Usage of mobile phones in Singapore

While in Singapore or I’ll say any foreign country, try to get a local SIM. This will help you to save some money by not paying the roaming charges. Taking a local SIM card in Singapore and set it ready is an easy job. You just need to have money to buy one for you. Your mobile telephone and passport should also be with you.

Numerous Service Providers are there in Singapore. They offer more or less same facilities or same service but prices between carriers for the cost of calls and many such things do change. So, it is definitely up to you to decide which service you are going to avail or with which service you are most comfortable. To name some major Service Providers we can mention Singtel and M1. Also there are others but I wanted to minimize the choice options.

I have already said that all the services are almost identical. The new number you get with the SIM card is only valid for six months. You can be assure of one thing that next time you visit Singapore the number will still be the same. You pass it to others and start talking. But you have to add money to the card and this should be done once in the six months. From the date you add money to your SIM card and number, etc. the time starts and the card will be valid for next six months. So if you add money to the card in the fourth month then it will be valid for another six.
Singapore has gone one step further than other countries. You can top up in this new SIM card. Money can also be added to the card from overseas. It is advisable to also buy a top up card when you purchase your SIM card.
